Graduated in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Santos, Brazil, Sig Bergamin is a decorator that can’t be defined by one single style. He has made his mark through his twenty-five year career in interior design with a style he defines as a sum of eclecticism, ethnic diversity, humor and versatility. These are the tools he always keeps in mind when working on a project.
In residential projects, his main goal is to create an atmosphere of comfort in a habitable place, always following the lead of the client’s desires and working hard to actualize their wishes for a house well designed. Regarding commercial projects, the practical and functional are always the beginning and the end when designing the space to achieve the client’s objectives.
In expos (like Casa Cor), exhibitions and showhouses, Sig usually lets his imagination run wild and has shown some innovative uses of colors and mix of different materials and elements. The results demonstrate that his apparent disregard for established formulas has been well received by both the public and the media. In Brazil, Europe and the United States, projects signed by Sig Bergamin have been getting a lot of attention and space in books, magazines, newspapers, radio and television, besides appearing in covers of catalogs and producing several requests for lectures and workshops.
With two established offices, one in Sao Paulo and one in New York, Sig Bergamin demonstrates that time has given him not only experience but also agility to discover new trends and interactive paths with social moments. He was recently included in the list of TOP 101 decorators in the United States, published by House Beautiful magazine. His team, coherent with the principles of adapting to avoid waste, never had more than twenty people total in his two offices.
In 1997, he launched the book SIG in partnership with photographer Tuca Reinés, in which he compiled some of his best projects. One of the major projects of his career is his own house, where he gathered objects, items and accessories that came from all of his experiences and personal explorations. Curious by nature, he is - therefore - an innate collector. His home and his projects have been proven to be an eternal quest for the new... In an almost visual sense!
